Northern Nevada, end to end.

Reno, NV landscaping

Reno, NV

Landscaping built for the Biggest Little City.

Reno sits at 4,500 feet with roughly 7 inches of annual rainfall, 300 days of sun, and an aggressive freeze-thaw cycle that punishes shortcuts in pavers and patios. We've spent over 20 years learning what survives here - and what doesn't.

Sparks, NV landscaping

Sparks, NV

Outdoor spaces sized for Spanish Springs and Spark's family lots.

Sparks has grown fast, and most homes east of Pyramid Highway sit on 6,000 to 10,000+ sq ft lots with builder-grade backyards waiting to be finished. We turn those blank slates into outdoor rooms - patios sized for a real dining table, putting greens, fire pits, and shade structures that handle the wind off the valley.

Carson City, NV landscaping

Carson City, NV

Landscaping for Carson City's mix of historic and high-desert.

Carson City has a different character than Reno - older neighborhoods with mature trees, larger heritage lots, and a building stock that ranges from 1880s Victorian to 2020s tract. The right landscape choice in west Carson isn't the same as the right choice in Lakeview or on the north end.

Spanish Springs, NV landscaping

Spanish Springs, NV

Big lots, open sky, and the wind off the Pah Rah Range.

Spanish Springs grew up around Pyramid Highway and the valley north of Sparks, with lot sizes that beat almost anything in greater Reno. That space is the opportunity - and the challenge. Open exposure means more wind, hotter afternoons, and larger outdoor layouts to plan.

Minden, NV landscaping

Minden, NV

Outdoor living with a Carson Valley view.

Minden sits on the Carson Valley floor below the eastern Sierra. A sheltered garden near the town center and an exposed lot toward the agricultural edges need different answers for afternoon wind, shade and planting. We start with how your property sits in the valley, not a standard backyard package.

Gardnerville, NV landscaping

Gardnerville, NV

Gardens that fit Carson Valley life.

Gardnerville blends an older Main Street town center with residential neighborhoods and agricultural land beyond it. Near Heritage Park, existing trees and older garden beds may guide the design. In Gardnerville Ranchos, usable lawn, privacy and a patio for everyday family life can take priority over ornamental space.

Dayton, NV landscaping

Dayton, NV

From historic Dayton to open desert yards.

Dayton follows the Carson River through Lyon County, with older streets near the historic town center and residential growth along the valley. A river-adjacent lot needs a different drainage assessment from a sunny site on the surrounding desert benches. We check those differences before choosing finishes or plants.

Fernley, NV landscaping

Fernley, NV

Comfortable yards in the open high desert.

Fernley sits in an open high-desert basin east of the Truckee Meadows. Its residential areas include established properties around Farm District Road and newer yards with little tree canopy. A good plan creates comfortable places to sit first, then uses planting and circulation to connect them.

Fallon, NV landscaping

Fallon, NV

Outdoor spaces for the Lahontan Valley.

Fallon lies in the Lahontan Valley, where irrigated farmland contrasts with the surrounding high-desert flats. A town yard near Maine Street, a property in the Stillwater area and a home toward the desert edge can differ in drainage, soil and water arrangements even though they share the same summer sun.

How we build here

Regional Build Conditions Across Northern Nevada

Magic Scape specializes in custom landscape and hardscape construction: patios, pavers, retaining walls, outdoor living areas, and drought-tolerant landscapes built for each property. Every build starts with the ground it sits on.

Truckee Meadows: Reno, Sparks, and Spanish Springs

Clay-heavy hillside lots and compacted builder fill dominate here. We over-build paver and patio bases for 80-plus freeze-thaw nights a year, engineer drainage around retaining walls in Caughlin Ranch and Somersett, and position shade and seating for the open Spanish Springs valley.

Eagle Valley and Carson Valley: Carson City, Minden, and Gardnerville

Slightly wetter and colder than Reno, with mature tree canopy in older neighborhoods and open wind exposure on the valley floor. We design plantings that work with established trees, check grades near sloughs and low ground before adding hardscape, and choose cold-ready patio materials throughout.

Lyon and Churchill Corridors: Dayton, Fernley, and Fallon

Open high-desert exposure, little natural shade, and soils that vary lot to lot. We place shade structures and seating first, test or amend soil where drainage or salinity is a concern, and plan water-wise planting zones that keep water on roots instead of the afternoon wind.
